Mary White - Bitter in the Parting

Two figures inhabit this narrative painting: one remains, while the other has just departed. A luminous passage of light breaks through the surrounding darkness, suggesting a moment of epiphany- the sudden illumination of a truth that may be painful to confront. The dissolution of a relationship, the barriers we encounter, and the burden of addiction can obscure our ability to see a way forward. Yet within the darkness, revelation can become a catalyst for change. The light exposes what has been hidden and in doing so, reveals the possibility of a new path.
