Studio Class: Painted Portraits

Come learn the art of portraiture with local artist, Shannon Casey, in this FREE hands-on class.

No registration required. All materials will be provided.  Doors open at 4pm and the class will run from 5-8pm. 

How do you capture a likeness? This portrait class will explore that concept with step-by-step instruction using a live model. Attendees will work first on toned paper with charcoal and chalk to understand the basic anatomy of the head, planes of the face and individual features. Then we will use black and white paint on toned paper to create value studies of the face. Emphasis on both mediums will help gather information to create quick-sketch impressions. Attendees will work from the live model and with each other.
